Manchester City winger Jesus Navas has urged his team mates to rediscover their form for fear that a loss at Chelsea will end the title race, the Express
City currently sit five points behind the leaders having been level only two games ago with their slump in form culminating in last weekend’s FA Cup loss to Championship side Middlesbrough.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini has expressed his frustrations with his side both in an attacking and defensive sense – City have scored just one goal from 54 attempts in the past three matches whilst conceding 11 in the last six games.
A defeat at the hands of Chelsea this weekend would open the gap to eight points with just 15 games left of the season.
And Navas has echoed his manager’s frustration and urged his team mates to rediscover their form and not dwell on Saturday’s shock exit from the FA Cup.
The Spaniard said: “It is a big disappointment to go out of the Cup. The truth is we have a very important match now. We need to go there with the maximum attitude.
“It would be something very big to win the title two years in a row. But we need three points against Chelsea to close the gap.”
City will recall a number of stars for the crunch clash after Joe Hart, Martin Demichelis and Gael Clichy were rested on Saturday.
They will also be hoping the Ivory Coast exit the African Cup of Nations on Wednesday to fly both Yaya Toure and new signing Wilfried Bony in for the game.
