Manchester United legend Andrei Kanchelskis has slammed current boss Louis van Gaal and claimed his side will not win the title for 10 years under the Dutchman, the Daily
Having failed to register a single shot on target against Southampton during their home defeat a week ago Van Gaal saw his side overcome a potential banana skin in Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, winning 2-0 away at Loftus Road.
However the Red Devils again struggled in the first half leading to angry chants of 4-4-2 from travelling supporters as their players failed to impress once again in the infamous 3-5-2 of Van Gaal.
A change in formation at half time saw an eventual breakthrough in a much improved 45 minutes – meaning United are still in the top four and on the hunt of third place.
However Kanchelskis, a former double winner at the club, has claimed the club will not regain the title under their current boss and his philosophies for 10 years.
He said: “With Louis van Gaal in charge they will not become champions for another ten years.
“I don’t understand the type of football he is instilling into his players.
“I don’t fancy their chances with him in charge – they aren’t going to compete with Chelsea and Manchester City.
“They looked awful. Seventy-five thousand people came to the stadium to watch but they were an embarrassment. I felt sorry for the fans.”
Van Gaal has had an incredible run of bad luck when it has come to injuries to his defensive line and with those appearing to finally clear up United have the potential to look a much more solid outfit.
However it will be going forward that is also frustrating fans – with the likes of Angle Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Juan Mata all failing to deliver on a consistent basis.
