German Bundesliga side Schalke have signed Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic on loan until the end of the season, reports BBC
The 21-year-old is reported to have a buying option attached to his contract too, with his future likely to be away from Manchester City in the next campaign regardless.
Nastasic, a Serbian international, fell out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini, and hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season.
Schalke manager Roberto Di Matteo saw some of the young defender during his spell in the Premier League with former side Chelsea, and is keen on bringing him to German to strengthen his backline.
City originally signed him in 2012 under ex-manager Roberto Mancini, and has was regarded as one for the future, but has since fallen down the pecking order following Pellegrini’s appointment.
