After slipping up to Arsenal on the weekend that saw Chelsea extend their lead at the top to five points, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits their weekend clash to come against the Blues is crucial, reports BBC
Manchester City lost home and away to Chelsea when the two sides locked horns last season, and the drew at the Etihad this campaign. Jose Mourinho’s side could go eight points clear if they win at Stamford Bridge next weekend, but City could cut down the deficit to just two points if they stun the league leaders. As a result, Pellegrini knows his side cannot entertain anything less than a win.
“The game we play at Stamford Bridge is a very important game. We must close the gap to two points. It’s very important to win the next game against Chelsea. I hope we are going to recover and play the way we have been playing so far,” he said.
