Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini glad to have kept Lampard until the summer

Following Frank Lampard’s recent winner for Manchester City against Sunderland, manager Manuel Pellegrini revealed his delight to have sealed the loanee for the entire season, reports BBC Sport.

Lampard was due to leave the club in January, but City managed to extend his loan spell until the summer, meaning the former England international could play a big role in the title race. His recent goal put the Sky Blues level on points with former side Chelsea in the league this season, and there could be many more important goals from Lampard to come.

“To see Frank play is an amazing thing. In this moment the best decision for him is to stay here with us. He is a very important player. That’s why we brought him here at the beginning of the season,” said Pellegrini.
