Manchester United sack Torben Aakjaer for offensive Facebook posts

According to BBC Sport, Manchester United have sacked scout Torben Aakjaer after the associate posted offensive messages on Facebook.

Aakjaer had been working with the club for four years, while being based in Denmark looking at players and clubs, but Manchester United held a recent investigation after being alerted to some posted he put up.

“The club received evidence from the Guardian and has ended our association with Mr Aakjaer. Manchester United is an inclusive organisation and will not tolerate this sort of behaviour,” said a club statement.

Reports have suggested Aakjaer was guilty of using racial slurs on his Facebook page, relating to anti-immigration and derogatory terms. Unite chief executive Ed Woodward held the inquiry into him. The scout was initially suspended, but has since been sacked following the severity of the offence.
