Thomas Muller has alerted Manchester United to the possibility of a transfer after reports claim he is ready for a fresh challenge, the Daily
Muller has linked with a move to Old Trafford over the course of the summer but talks between the two clubs failed to materialise.
Van Gaal has remained keen to link up with the German international – who he coached during his reign at the Allianz Arena – and will have received a huge boost to his interests as it appears the player is willing to leave the club.
Reports from Germany state that the World Cup winning 25-year-old is desperate for a change in scenery and this could prompt United to make a bid for the German star.
The player has spoken about his relationship with Van Gaal in the past, describing relations between the pair as more than amicable.
Muller said: “It’s no secret that Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes a little beyond the normal relationship between coaches and players.”
It remains to be seen whether such a vital part of Bayern’s side will be allowed to leave – especially after claiming just a few months ago that he had no intentions of leaving Germany.
