With former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew having officially departed to join Crystal Palace, caretaker boss John Carver wants the job on a fulltime basis, reports BBC
Newcastle lost their first game post-Pardew, with Leicester City knocking them out of the FA Cup to a 1-0 scoreline. And despite the defeat, caretaker manager John Carver has publicly admitted he wants to replace the 53-year-old.
“I’m going to throw my hat into the ring. I told the players but I couldn’t make it public – now I am. Alan has gone now, it’s been announced. At the time when all that was going on it’s difficult to say how you feel. But obviously deep down inside I want to be head coach of this football club,” said Carver.
