Newcastle United boss John Carver has reiterated his belief that midfielder Moussa Sissoko will not leave the club before the transfer deadline on Monday evening, Sky
The 25-year-old’s future has been the biggest talking point on Tyneside in recent weeks regarding transfers, with the player having admitted that he would be tempted by the possibility of a move to Paris St. Germain, and that his ‘dream’ would be to play for Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Sissoko has been the outstanding performer in what has been an inconsistent season for Newcastle, making 24 appearances and joining three goals. When available for selection, he has been an almost ever-present in the side since arriving in January 2013 from his first club Toulouse, for whom he scored 23 goals in 218 outings in all competitions.
And while Carver has very little say in Newcastle’s transfer dealings, he is confident that Sissoko will remain at the club until at least the end of the season. He said: “I am telling you that he (Sissoko) is going nowhere – unless someone comes in with a ridiculous amount of money. He is focused and he has got his mind on the job. He has been absolutely first class.
“It annoys me when you see a player who has been tapped up by somebody else and he doesn’t train or perform properly. That is what annoys me and he’s certainly not doing that.”
