England U21 international Nick Powell has returned to parent club Manchester United, after his loan spell with Leicester City was cancelled early, reports Sky
The 20-year-old joined Manchester United in 2012 from Crewe Alexandra, and has been loaned out to the likes of Wigan Athletic and Leicester City last season and this campaign respectively, but made only three appearances for the Foxes, all from the substitutes’ bench.
His future with Manchester United is unknown given the stiff competition for places in the midfielder. The likes of Angel Di Maria, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher are all ahead of Powell in the pecking order, and City cancelling the loan spell doesn’t bode well for Powell – considering he’s made just two appearances for United since joining the club.
