Real Madrid interested in Manchester United’s David De Gea as long-term replacement for Iker Casillas

According to ESPN, Real Madrid are weighing up Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as an eventual replacement for long-serving Iker Casillas, with United having recently signed Victor Valdes.

Manchester United recently confirmed the signing of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes on an 18-month deal, which has fuelled rumours that the Red Devils are bracing themselves from an approach from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid for David De Gea.

De Gea has been outstanding between the sticks in the last 18 months, but has been frequently linked with Real, given the Whites are looking for a native to replace their long-serving shot-stopper Iker Casillas who is in the eve of his career. There has been no initial approach from Real Madrid, and United have denied De Gea is leaving for the time being, so it could be a slow burner.
