Real Madrid to wait for David De Gea’s contract to run down at Manchester United

According to the Telegraph, Real Madrid are considering waiting for David De Gea’s contract to run down with Manchester United, as the Spaniard’s deal expires in 18 months.

Real Madrid have been linked with De Gea for well over a year, with their own long-serving shot-stopper Iker Casillas considering a move away from Spain. Manchester United recently signed former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, which has led to rumours about De Gea’s future.

With no contract extension being signed, his exit is being spoken about as a possibility, and despite having lucrative funds to sign big-name stars, Real are considering a more thrifty approach to convince the Spaniard to sign for them for free.

De Gea has been outstanding between the sticks for Manchester United this season, which has led to clubs enquiring about his services.
