Sampdoria hoping to seal deal for Everton’s Samuel Eto’o

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has admitted the Italian Serie A club are hopeful of confirming a deal to sign Everton striker Samuel Eto’o, reports Sky Sports.

“We’re waiting on the okay from Everton. I’ve met the lad, he’s a champion,” he said.

Eto’o has scored four goals in 20 games for the Toffees this season after joining from Chelsea in the summer, but looks to be on his way out. Everton manager Roberto Martinez has taken him out of the side recently when speculation rose in the Cameroonian, admitting that he was allowed a rest while Everton speak to other clubs.

“With Samuel, we have a really good relationship and we are looking at his situation. We had a couple of clubs contact us in the last 12 hours so I decided it was better now to leave him out of the squad and allow us a different focus in the group,” said Martinez.
