Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has stated it is time for his side to deliver a killer blow and reach the Capital One Cup final, the Telegraph
The Spanish playmaker has been a revelation since joining the Blues from Barcelona in the summer and slotted seamlessly into place with his new team mates.
Chelsea had been on course for an unprecedented quadruple before being toppled by minnows Bradford City in the FA Cup last weekend and if they fail to overcome Liverpool in the Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday it could be halved in just one week.
And to ramp up the pressure further they face a crunch title clash against Manchester City at the weekend with the chance to go eight points clear of their nearest title rivals should they claim the win.
Fabregas claimed only a single FA Cup winner’s medal during his eight years at London rivals Arsenal and has experienced first-hand how Mourinho can get the most out of his side’s and push them over the final hurdle.
And the Spaniard is calling on his new team mates to do exactly this as he sees the potential to win a lot of silverware over the next few years.
He said: “At Chelsea, for sure we can win many, many medals for the next years because we have a very talented young team.
“But it’s not about the talent now, it’s not about the team, it’s about how much we want it.
“If this team really wants it to the end and we are focused and determined to achieve big things, then I’m sure in the next few years Chelsea can be a top team.
“I played against Chelsea teams that maybe talent-wise were not at the level of this team, but mentally they were there. You knew that every single game you played against Chelsea it was going to be tough and that’s what we have to prove with this team.”
