Tottenham have Mirallas interest rebuffed by Everton

Everton are said to have rejected a January enquiry from rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas, according to the Telegraph.

Mirallas has just 18 months left on his current deal at Goodison Park and having been offered talks for a new contract at the beginning of the season, chose to delay until the current campaign finishes.

Everton are in woeful form of late – having won just once in 12 matches and currently sit a worrying three points off the relegation places.

The Toffees have also exited both domestic cup competitions at the first hurdle for the first time in the club’s history and have just the Europa League to fight for.

Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also credited with an interest but it is Spurs who have shown a strong interest – although they have ben reportedly told that any bid will currently be rejected.

Mauricio Pochettino has identified the left of his attack as a place that needs strengthening with bids for Jay Rodriguez of Southampton and Yevhen Konoplyanka difficult to submit due to injury and third party ownership respectively.

The 27-year-old could become a summer target if Everton chose to stand firm on their stance but will face losing him for less money should they fail to agree new terms with the player.
