Tottenham are preparing a £5m offer for Burnley striker Danny Ings as manager Mauricio Pochettino continues to try and re-shape his squad at White Hart Lane, according to the Daily
Ings is a player that has been on Tottenham’s radar for around a year, with former Head Coach Tim Sherwood having expressed an interest last season as a result of his fine scoring form. He was the Championship’s second top scorer last season as the Clarets unexpectedly reached the top-flight, and he has managed seven so far this term.
As a result, the former Bournemouth star has been highly sought after and has been mentioned in some quarters as a candidate for a possible England call-up. His future is particularly in doubt as his contract runs out at the end of the season, and as he is under 23, Burnley would receive a compensation package for Ings should they decide to sell him.
Pochettino has turned his attention to Ings after Spurs opted not to meet the asking price for West Bromwich Albion star Saido Berahino, but he may have to sell players in order to land the 22-year-old.
The Argentine is desperately trying to lower the wage bill, and a number of players have been made available for transfer with Kyle Naughton – to Swansea City for £5m – the only one to have been successfully offloaded thus far.
