Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is anticipating Mesut Ozil will show a resurgence in form when he makes his full come back for the club, according to Sky
The Germany midfielder sustained a knee injury in October which has kept him out of competitive action for three months – perhaps coming at the right time having experienced a severe dip in form.
The playmaker is now expected to be fully recovered and refreshed as he looks to get his Arsenal career back on track.
And Wenger is expecting to see a fitter and stronger Ozil having revealed the German international has been working extremely hard to come back in peak condition – he is expected to start in this weekend’s fourth round FA Cup tie against Brighton.
He said: “Ozil is fit and worked very hard and now it is down to him playing games.
“He has worked hard, I think he has taken to the fact that he wants to be stronger.
“You have more time to focus on it. Every day he is in the gym, you also don’t have the fatigue of the games – and it is better when you look in the mirror.”
With the form of Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez it could be hard for Ozil to regain a first team spot – especially with Theo Walcott regaining fitness and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain also playing at a consistent level.
However this is not something Wenger is worried about, instead highlighting how strong his attacking options are at the club.
