New West Brom head coach Tony Pulis enjoyed a winning start, as Albion hit Gateshead for seven in the FA Cup third round, reports BBC
It took West Brom 42 minutes to take the lead, but eventually Saido Berahino provided some quality for the hosts, hitting an effort high through bodies in the area to give the Midlands club the lead.
Victor Anichebe doubled Albion’s advantage minutes later hitting hard and low past the Gateshead goalkeeper after showcasing good strength.
Berahino then grabbed his second, curling an effort in from the edge of the area, before completing his hat trick with a converted cross put in by Chris Baird.
Chris Brunt made it 5-0, beating the goalkeeper to the ball and finishing in an empty net. James Morison got on the scoresheet with a tap-in from close range.
Berahino then wrapped the game up in the dying moments, curling an effort into the top corner to cap an emphatic FA Cup win for Albion and new head coach Tony Pulis.
