Having left Bayern Munich on a six month loan deal with Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed why he did not join Liverpool instead, the Daily
Liverpool have courted the Swiss midfielder for some time now since the beginning of the season and were thought to be close to sealing what would have been a reported £12m back then and during the current window.
However Shaqiri opted to join the Italian side on loan as he bids to gain first team football – he had made just three league starts this seasons and 26 since joining the German champions two years ago.
And the 23-year-old has now revealed that he had wanted to join Liverpool in the summer only for his club to block any transfer.
He opted for Inter this winter down to a gut feeling given during his time speaking to different managers.
He said: “In the end I had a lot of options, very lucrative offers.
“And I was on the phone with very many Coaches who talked to me about their ideas.
“But just I felt that Inter did most to get me. My gut feeling was with Inter.”
Of course any move to Anfield could be possible in the future after reports last week claimed the Reds would be willing to wait until the summer to land their man.
