Alexis Sanchez will miss the North London derby, the Daily Mail has reported, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does have Danny Welbeck available for the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Sanchez is carrying a hamstring injury and sat out last weekend’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa, but hasn’t recovered in time to take to the field against Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs. Welbeck had been suffering from a thigh niggle but he is fit after also being absent for the Villa victory.
Wenger has confirmed Sanchez could be fit in time for the Gunners’ game against Premier League strugglers Leicester City, which is due to take place on February 10. Wenger also revealed midfielder Jack Wilshere should resume training this weekend.
Sanchez moved to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2014, making the switch from Barcelona after three years at Camp Nou. He has thus far made 32 appearances under Wenger, scoring 18 goals.
Arsenal go into the derby game a place and two points clear of Tottenham, sitting fifth on 42 points from their 23 league games.
