Reports from Sky Sports suggest Chelsea should complete a deal to sign Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado today, with Mohamed Salah moving in the opposite direction.
The Colombian winger has been in talks with Chelsea for days, but his deal to come to Stamford Bridge is reliant on the sale of Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg. The German international’s sale will fund the deal to sign Cuadrado, while winger Mohamed Salah will join on loan until the end of the season too. Salah has been out-of-form and out-of-favour with the Blues almost ever since making the move from Basel, so he would relish the opportunity for regular first-team football elsewhere. And given his young age, Chelsea are still confident he can transform into a talented winger.
And while Schurrle impressed in the 2014 World Cup with eventual winners Germany last summer, he just hasn’t been able to force his way into the first-team on a regular basis, and manager Jose Mourinho wants dependable quality in the title race.
The deal is expected to be completed today, but could well go right up to the wire this evening, with so many factors slowing the transfer down currently.
