Chelsea striker Diego Costa will be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain in tonight’s Champions League second round clash, reports BBC
The Brazilian-born Spanish international has served a three-match ban for a stamp on Liverpool’s Emre Can back in December, and is line to start against the Parisians. Manager Jose Mourinho admitted the striker is “not in the best of condition,” but will name him in the starting eleven as he could be crucial for the Londoners to get a result on the road.
Costa has received a lot of criticism recently for his conduct. Many believe he goes over the line with some challenges and specific incidents, but the former Atleti man defended himself and said he’s merely a passionate player who leaves it all on the pitch.
Chelsea have history with Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues saw past Laurent Blanc’s side in the latter stages of the Champions League last season, so revenge is in mind for the French club. The two sides lock horns at the Parc des Princes tonight, where Chelsea last season came away with a defeat, before rectifying in the home leg.
