The Liverpool Echo has claimed that Everton will make a summer move for out of contract Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley.
The 25-year-old is currently on a season long loan spell at fellow Premier League side Aston Villa but will be unsure of his future come the end of the season.
It is unlikely that Louis van Gaal will deem him necessary to his plans meaning he will be available for nothing in the summer.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is a known admirer of the United academy product after he managed him during a loan spell at Wigan back in 2010-2011, and was interested in his services before the player opted to move to Villa Park in the summer.
The England international has not played for his country for almost two years after a dip in form saw him hounded by United fans whilst David Moyes was in charge – and some sections of fans are not happy with his performances for Villa either.
However Martinez believes he can nurture his former charge back to his best and Everton would be favourites to sign the midfielder over Aston Villa with the payer keen to link up with the Spaniard once again.
