Reading earned a shock victory in the FA Cup fifth round, winning at the iPro stadium against Derby County, reports BBC
Reading hit the woodwork in the first-half, with striker Simon Cox coming close to giving the visitors the lead. The Royals were also denied a penalty, after a Danny Williams shot appeared to have struck Derby defender Richard Keogh on the arm.
After the goalless first-half, it was Reading who took the lead after the break. Hal Robson-Kanu curled an effort from distance into the back of the net to put Steve Clarke’s side ahead.
But Derby were not to be denied. The Midlands club levelled the game only minutes after going behind, with on-loan striker Darren Bent continuing his fine form in front of goal. An effort from Jesse Lingard deflected off Bent and went in to earn the Rams an equaliser.
Reading did find a winner, however, with substitute Yakubu Aiyegbeni scoring the deciding goal to earn the Royals an impressive away win. Steve Clarke’s side find themselves into the FA Cup quarter-finals as a result of the win, while Derby’s focus returns on league matters.
