Hull City can move out of the bottom three and above opponents Aston Villa if they triumph when the two sides clash in a vital game on Tuesday.
It was a superb effort from the Tigers on Saturday; coming so close to sensational and unexpected victory away to champions Manchester City. While there will be disappointment at seeing two points stolen away from them late on, there must be a massive amount of pride that they can take out of their performance.
But this is a match that Steve Bruce’s side simply must win, and they certainly owe their home supporters after a horror show in their last KC Stadium outing against Newcastle United. There is quality in this squad, but it has not been seen often enough and they lack goals.
Indeed, only Villa have managed to score less, but they did at least end their demoralising goal drought on Saturday as Jores Okore gleefully headed home against leaders Chelsea. Despite that, they lost again, and there will be even more concern around the West Midlands side if they suffer once more here.
The decision to omit Christian Benteke from the starting XI surprised many, but the Belgian has struggled for form recently as Villa continue to toil. He could return here, but the onus will be upon Carles Gil to keep providing the spark he shown in his opening few games for the club.
The hosts could hand recalls to strikers Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic, but Mohamed Diame, Liam Rosenior, James Chester and Robert Snodgrass are still out.
Aston Villa could give Scott Sinclair his first start since joining on loan from Manchester City, and captain Ron Vlaar could feature after recovering from a knee injury.
