Inter to pull out of permanent Podolski deal

Inter are to decide against signing Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski on a permanent basis in the summer as they are unimpressed with his performances since joining on loan in January, according to Talksport.

The experienced Germany international was allowed to move to Italy after finding first-team opportunities difficult to come by at Arsenal, where he often found himself played on the left and behind the likes of Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order.

He spoke of his frustrations during the first half of the season, but has also struggled so far at the San Siro, making only six appearances so far without scoring. The 29-year-old has also been left out of the club’s Europa League squad ahead of the round of 32 clash with Celtic.

And it now appears that Inter have already decided to refuse the option of signing Podolski on a permanent deal, contrary to what was widely expected when the loan move was announced. Should that indeed be the case, he may be forced to look for a new club in the summer, with his days at Arsenal seemingly numbered.
