Klinsmann, Clement and Sherwood on Aston Villa shortlist

United States Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, Real Madrid assistant manager Paul Clement and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood are among the names linked with the vacancy at Aston Villa, ESPN reports, after Paul Lambert was sacked by the Premier League strugglers.

Lambert left Villa Park after the club fell into the bottom three following a 2-0 defeat by Hull City, ending a two-and-a-half year spell in the Midlands following a time with Norwich City. Goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall and first team coach Scott Marshall have been placed in caretaker charge but a full-time boss will be appointed in due course, Villa have said.

Klinsmann, who played in the Premier League for Spurs and previously coached Bayern Munich and the Germany national team, has been mentioned in connection with the post, as has Clement, who has worked under Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and Paris Saint-German. Sherwood, meanwhile, has been out of management since leaving Tottenham last year, where he replaced Andre Villas-Boas and was in turn replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
