Midfielder Philippe Coutinho has urged his Liverpool team mates to continue their red hot form if they are to land silverware this season, according to the Daily
The Reds made a poor start to the season that ended their title chances early and saw a tame exit from the Champions League.
However there has finally been a resurgence from the club and a current nine match unbeaten run in the Premier League has coincided with reaching the Capital One Cup semi-final and still in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
And having managed to secure a place in the Europa League knock out rounds thanks to a third placing in their Champions League group Brendan Rodgers’ men are still in with a chance of silverware and a top four finish.
Coutinho sees their form as a vital part to any challenge and has urged his fellow layers to continue with their growing belief on and off the field.
He said: “It’s important to maintain the momentum. The team has been doing what the coach has been requesting and everybody is trying their best on the field.
“Everybody defends when we do not have the ball and I think that has been important in helping to allow the team to play well, so we have to continue like this.
“We know at the beginning of the season it was not like this with our form, but we have to continue as we have been and aspire to achieve good things like trophies.”
Liverpool’s surge up the table sees them in seventh place as they travel to fourth placed Southampton on Sunday for a crunch clash – knowing a win against the Saints will put them within one point of the top four.
