Despite Liverpool having many players injured ahead of their Europa League clash against Besiktas tonight, manager Brendan Rodgers is still confident his men can get the job done, reports Sky
The Reds have Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Glen Johnson, Mamadou Sakho, Steven Gerrard, Lucas Leiva, Lazar Markovic all set to miss the clash against Beskitas, which makes their task of getting a result on the road even harder. Their Turkish opponents are strong playing on home soil, but they are 1-0 down on aggregate. As a result, Liverpool are in the driving seat ahead of the clash, but they know the game still somewhat hangs on a knife-edge.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have been in fine form after overcoming a slow start to the season. Liverpool are enjoying a long unbeaten run in the league, and such form has crept into Europe too. Despite having key players out of action, there’s a feel in the camp that Liverpool can still continue their winning ways in Europe. If they can avoid defeat, or only lose by a single goal after scoring away from home, they will make it through the next round.
They also have an important clash in the race for a top-four place against Manchester City in the weekend too, but Rodgers isn’t fazed.
“We’ve got a few injuries. We still have a squad strong enough to hopefully get the job complete but we’ve got a few knocks and niggles from the weekend,” he said.
