Anfield hosts another important game in the race for a Champions League qualification spot as Liverpool face Tottenham in a battle of two in-form sides.
There was plenty of effort and endeavour from Liverpool as they drew a blank in a lacklustre Merseyside derby last time out, but they were missing a quality final ball and were stifled by a determined Everton backline. However, it did extend their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games.
Daniel Sturridge was given little opportunity to impress at Goodison Park after coming on, but one man who did shine was youngster Jordon Ibe. A surprise inclusion in the starting line-up, the 19-year-old more than justified his selection and could start again here, with his pace set to cause Spurs left-back Danny Rose a number of problems.
Tottenham will still be in a euphoric frame of mind after getting the better of bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday, with Harry Kane doing the business once again. The England U-21 striker is simply not putting a foot wrong, so the home defence must be alert to nullify his threat, as well as Christian Eriksen’s.
Another impressive element of their victory over the Gunners was the midfield pairing of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason, who had the better of their much more experienced opponents. Bentaleb in particular is becoming one of the unsung heroes of the Premier League, while Mousa Dembele is thriving in a more advanced role.
Liverpool have Adam Lallana back from a groin problem, while Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling should shake of knocks in time to play. Lucas Leiva was forced off at Everton and will miss out, however.
The visitors could go unchanged, but have the option of offering recalls to the likes of Ben Davies, Nacer Chadli and Benjamin Stambouli.
