Manchester United are fearing that Premier League rivals Tottenham could beat them to the signing of PSV Eindhoven striker Memphis Depay in the summer, according to Goal.com.
Depay, who rejected the chance to move to Tottenham last summer in favour of one more season with PSV, has a strong relationship with Man Utd manager Louis van Gaal after they together with the Dutch national team, especially during their surprise run to third place at last summer’s World Cup. Van Gaal is keen to reunite with the player, who is rated at €29m, and will hope his links with Depay can prove an advantage.
He impressed in Brazil, scoring goals against Australia and Chile, and this term he has continued to catch the eye for PSV, leading the Eredivisie’s scoring charts with 15 goals in his 19 appearances and helping his team lead the table by some 12 points.
