Manchester United are said to be readying a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan as the player continues to refuse new contract terms at the club, according to the Metro.
As it stands his price tag is growing ever smaller and if the Germany international continues to stand his ground they could be forced to sell rather than losing one of their star players for nothing in 2016.
Dortmund are preparing yet another offer for the 24-year-old with hopes they can finally persuade him to stay with the club – much like the surprising decision of Marco Rues in recent weeks, who had been heavily linked with a move away.
However United remain firmly interested and if talks are again spurned by the player they will make a move in the summer.
The Red Devils are reportedly willing to pay around £20m for the player’s services with speculation continuing to grow in the wake of manager Louis Van Gaal’s comments – recently claiming he will be looking to sign a creative midfielder when the season finishes.
