Man Utd’s Falcao facing bench with Van Persie fit again

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao could be set for a place on the bench this weekend after Robin van Persie’s recovery from injury, according to the Daily Star.

Falcao had an ineffectual game on Monday night that saw him replaced on the hour mark – much to the bemusement of the player himself.

Despite this reaction, the Colombian had failed to even register an attempt let alone one on or off target.

Van Persie had failed to make the team sheet with what has been described as a mystery injury but boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed his striker will be available for their trip to Swansea at the weekend.

Loan star Falcao’s time to impress at United appears to be running out with the club forking out £6m in the summer to take the striker on loan for the season.

The Colombian arrived continuing to search for full fitness following a serious knee injury that kept him out of last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

However a return of just four goals from 19 games, and the completion of 90 minutes just four times, has put his future at Old Trafford in jeopardy even before any permanent transfer.
