Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany not obsessing over Chelsea’s five point lead in the title-race

Manchester City captain and defender Vincent Kompany says his side “feel very comfortable” about their chances in this season’s title race, despite Chelsea being five-points clear of them at present, reports Sky Sports.

The Sky Blues have won two Premier League titles in the last three seasons, but on both occasions have found themselves behind in the table before finishing top of the pack come May. Last season in particular, Manuel Pellegrini’s men spent a short amount of time at the summit to claim the crown, while the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal were being considered as favourites ahead of them as a result.

This season, there are many similarities, with Chelsea have led for the majority of the campaign, and Manchester City flirting with top spot. As a result, Kompany isn’t panicking about being five points behind the Londoners, and insists the side are comfortable in their position.

“This is just such a usual situation for us. Five points behind in January or February? Big deal. We feel very comfortable, we’ve been in this position many times before,” he said.
