Newcastle defender Daryl Janmaat admitted the players are relieved the club’s managerial situation has been resolved, and now feels the Magpies can push on for a top-half finish, reports Sky Sports.
With Newcastle manager John Carver recently recording a 3-0 win against Hull City – his first since taking charge – Janmaat believes the side can now push on for a strong finish to the season. Manager Alan Pardew resigned from his position at the end of last year, which led their form to dip considerably before a permanent successor was appointed, and now they have a league win to build on.
We can put our minds at rest now. We know who is the head coach. That’s better for the team. We hope to put a run together now after Hull. We can finish in the season in good fashion. The top 10 is the main target we have to reach,” said Janmaat.
Newcastle’s victory against Hull City was their first of the New Year, and with games to come against Stoke and Crystal Palace, the players are all hoping to hit some winning form.
