French Champions Paris Saint Germain are preparing to offload Edison Cavani and Ezequial Lavezzi in order to attempt to land Manchester United star Angel Di Maria, the Daily Star is reporting.
PSG are wary of Financial Fair Play rules after breaching them in the summer and therefore need to sell before they make any form of move.
Lavezzi has been linked with a move away for a number of months now, with Cavani said to be less than happy with manager Laurent Blanc’s persistence to play him in a wide position instead of his preferred role centrally.
This has culminated with the pair being dropped by their manager and fined for unprofessional behaviour as relations turn sour at the Parisians.
The pair will become makeweights this summer with PSG still desperate to sign the Argentinian winger – who they missed out of last season because of FFP.
Lavezzi has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal and would be up for sale at around £14m – reasonable compared to the £45m that will be demanded for Cavani.
Di Maria has previously revealed he would be interested in a move to France, even after his British transfer record move to United.
He said: “It could have been a good experience for me to go to Paris.
“I know I’m still young, perhaps I’ll go to PSG one day. I don’t know how it will all end.”
