Southampton will be looking to regain third place in the Premier League table with a win over Swansea City, who will be desperate for a return to form.
The hosts suffered the disappointment of going out of the FA Cup at the hands of Crystal Palace last time out, but the focus is very much on achieving the unexpected and qualifying for the Champions League, and recent Premier League form suggests they can do just that.
All of manager Ronald Koeman’s summer signings have so far proved a success, with centre-back Florin Gardos the latest to flourish, but his most recent acquisition, winger Eljero Elia, already appears to be another masterstroke, particularly after his match-winning display at Newcastle United.
It has been a very difficult start to 2015 for Swansea, and they will not relish this trip after surrendering in their last Premier League outing against Chelsea and then finishing with nine men as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackburn Rovers of the Championship.
But what cannot be forgotten is that they are still in a respectable position in the table. Despite the loss of Wilfried Bony, the Welsh club still has plenty of talented players, and added more to their midfield during the week with the signing of Jack Cork from the Saints.
Toby Alderweireld, Morgan Schneiderlin, Shane Long and Victor Wanyama are all out for Southampton, but Sadio Mane and Maya Yoshida do return from injury.
Swansea are unable to call upon suspended duo Kyle Bartley and Gylfi Sigurdsson. Captain Ashley Williams is doubtful, but Kyle Naughton should make his debut.
