After watching his side come from behind to beat Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round, Sunderland manager Gus Poyet believes the best team won at Craven Cottage, reports BBC Sport.
Sunderland were the dominant side for the majority of the game, but fell behind in the first-half to Fulham, and were approaching the hour mark of the game without having equalised. But a slice of fortune saw them level proceedings, and they went on to win the game in 90 minutes against the Championship outfit.
Poyet was full of praise for his team after the final whistle, and suggested he will have felt some injustice had Fulham come away with a result. But the Black Cats are through to the next round of the FA Cup, where they will face giant-killers Bradford City – who beat Chelsea in the previous round of the competition – and the Sunderland manager feels it was more than deserved for the North-East outfit.
“We were the better team by far. We were creating and controlling the ball. We didn’t allow Fulham to play the game they like to play. Overall we deserved to win. I’m pleased. I really enjoyed watching the team,” he said.
