Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to land teenage MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli amid competition from other Premier League teams, ESPN has reported.
Alli, 18, has been mentioned in connection with both Newcastle and Aston Villa but it’s believed Spurs are hoping to confirm the transfer before close of business on deadline day. It was expected he would join the Magpies and return to the Dons on loan for the rest of the season but Tottenham are said to have trumped the Tyneside club.
Should Alli move to White Hart Lane he would still be returned to Karl Robinson’s team for the duration of the campaign, having scored 12 goals in 32 games for the League One outfit so far this season.
Alli has in total made 70 appearances for the club after coming through the youth set-up at Stadium mk. Alli made his senior bow under Robinson in 2012, turning out in the FA Cup draw with Cambridge City and scoring his first goal in the ensuing replay, going on to feature seven times that season.
