Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted he has somewhat of a selection headache ahead of two important games in the coming days, with Spurs having a second leg Europa League clash, and Capital One Cup final bout days later to prepare for, reports Sky
The Lilywhites face Fiorentina tonight in the second leg of the Europa League last 32, with the two sides having drawn the first leg. Tottenham have just a few days until they have to face Chelsea in the Capital One Cup. It gives them little time for the players to fully recover, which means the manager might have to make some difficult decisions.
Pochettino can ill afford to rest too many key players as he has to win back-to-back games, and he admitted himself that he’s somewhat still pondering on what to do. Spurs have the biggest week of their recent history coming up, with a chance for trophy success just 90 minutes. The boss has a conundrum to make whether he should focus on winning the final, or push for their Europa League hopes.
“If tomorrow I rotate and then we win on Sunday I’m a genius. I may rest some players and play others and win against Chelsea in the final.. But if we lose tomorrow and lose in the final, I am a very bad manager and I don’t think that’s fair. It’s about who is in full recovery and fully fit,” he said.
