Tottenham are preparing a £10m summer bid for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, who has also been the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund, according to the Metro.
Defence is an area where they have occasionally struggled this season, and they see Mustafi as a player who can provide a solution to those problems. The 22-year-old was part of Germany’s successful squad at the 2014 World Cup, but was unable to feature in the latter stages after picking up an injury in the second round win over Algeria.
Mustafi began his career in England with Everton, but only made one first-team appearance under David Moyes. He moved on to Sampdoria, where he made 53 appearances before leaving for Spain last summer, impressing in his 22 outings, in which he has scored three goals.
