Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has backed his squad’s attacking talent to fire their way to a positive result against rivals Tottenham this weekend even with the expected absence of Alexis Sanchez, Sky Sports are reporting.
Sanchez has been hugely impressive since his arrival from Barcelona over the summer, scoring 18 goals already, but was forced to miss their 5-0 win over Aston Villa last week with a hamstring complaint.
Despite the player’s desire to feature for the Gunners against bitter rivals Spurs Wenger does not expect the Chile international to be fit enough to play a part in the derby.
However, the Frenchman is still full of confidence as he makes the short trip to White Hart Lane, insisting his squad has the attacking depth and talent to take points off of Spurs.
He said: “For me, the challenge is to find the balance between creative players and the real strikers.
“Getting that one player right gives you the efficiency, and it is not always a player who makes headlines, someone glamorous, most of the time it is a player who works in the dark and who has a real team attitude.”
The game will mark Wenger’s 45th North London derby and 700th game in charge of Arsenal.
However it will be a tough ask to come away from their rivals with a positive result, having won just once in six at White Hart Lane.
