West Ham striker Carlton Cole failed to complete a move to West Brom on deadline day, after Tottenham blocked Emmanuel Adebayor’s move to Upton Park, reports Sky Sports.
West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion were both involved in a host of deals that all had to go through to ensure Carlton Cole’s move to the Midlands could happen, with United manager Sam Allardyce lining up Adebayor to come into the attack, and West Brom selling Brown Ideye to free up room for Cole.
But the other deals broke down late on deadline day, which meant that Cole’s proposed move to the Hawthorns couldn’t be completed. Tottenham refused to loan their striker to a league rival, which saw every other deal breaking down as a result.
It’s a bitter blow for the ex-Chelsea man, as he would have been expecting to play a big role in the team, and hasn’t been afford much game time at all since returning to West Ham this season.
