Arsenal to scout Aleksandar Dragovic when Dynamo Kiev face Everton

According to the Metro, Arsenal are going to cast an eye on defender Aleksandar Dragovic when he lines up for Dynamo Kiev against Everton in the Europa League last-16.

With Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny both approaching the latter years of their career, Arsenal are still looking for defensive recruitments. They signed Gabriel Paulista in January, and the Brazilian centre-back initially impressed before suffering an injury. Calum Chambers can operate at right-back and centre-back, but manager Arsene Wenger is still in need of more options.

Mertesacker has been very inconsistent this season, and admitted to not being happy or motivated at the start of the campaign. He turns 31 in September, and will need a successor to show the ropes before he does eventually leave. Dragovic could well be the man to do so, but there’s no indication Arsenal will make a genuine approach for the central defender just yet.

The 24-year-old is said to be rated at around £15M, and has attracted a lot of clubs following a spate of impressive performances. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to see the defender in action against Everton, potentially before putting him on his shortlist to sign in the summer.
