Pep Guardiola has insisted he won’t leave Bayern Munich this summer for Manchester City amid speculation the Spaniard has been targeted to replace Manuel Pellegrini, the
It’s thought that Pellegrini is under pressure at the Etihad Stadium as City have fallen behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League as they attempt to defend the title, while the club’s continued struggle to compete in the Champions League is also a factor. City got out of this season’s group stage but a first leg defeat to Barcelona, Guardiola’s former side, has left their progress to the next round in doubt. Guardiola was asked about the link to City at a Press conference prior to Bayern’s German Cup tie against Eintracht Braunschweig and dismissed the chances of him moving to the Premier League, insisting he intends to stay at Bayern for the length of his contract. “Of course I am going to fulfil my contract here,” Guardiola replied, referencing his deal which expires in 2016.
“I haven’t had a contract offer and I am not waiting for a contract offer from anyone else,” he added. “I am very happy here. I am working for this wonderful club and that is the only thing I am thinking about at this moment.”
