Liverpool keen on Falcao signing

Liverpool could make a summer approach for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, the Daily Telegraph has reported, the Colombia international who has spent this season on loan at Manchester United.

Falcao moved on a season-long basis to Old Trafford late in the summer transfer window, having been at the principality club for 12 months, moving from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2013. Falcao made 22 appearances for Monaco, scoring 13 goals, his playing time severely curtailed by a serious knee injury suffered in January 2014 that eventually ruled him out of participation at the World Cup.

The 29-year-old has scored four goals in 25 appearances for Louis van Gaal’s United, netting his first in a 2-1 win over Everton in October and most recently finding the score sheet in a 3-1 win over Leicester City, on January 31.

It’s not thought United will turn Falcao’s loan into a permanent deal having paid a £6m loan fee and taken on his £280,000 a week wages, potentially leaving the way clear for Liverpool to make an approach.

Chelsea are said to be interested as well as they may need to replace veteran striker Didier Drogba, while it is Mario Balotelli whom Liverpool could be replacing, should the Italian end his time at Anfield.
