Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli put up a video on Instagram that shows him hitting back at his critics after the Italian international was criticised for missing the Reds’ 1-0 win against Swansea City due to illness, reports Sky
Signed from AC Milan in the summer, Balotelli has struggled in the Premier League, which has led to him spending more time on the bench during the course of the campaign. He failed to make the most of first-choice striker Daniel Sturridge being out of action for the first-half of the season, and has since been deemed surplus with Sturridge and Sterling the best attacking options in the side.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been critical of Balotelli in the past, urging him to prove his worth at the club to silence his nay-sayers and pundits who questioned the club and doubted he would ever amount for anything on Merseyside. The Italian international hasn’t had too much game time of late, and he was once again in the headlines for his absence in the Swansea City game.
But Balotelli has been defiant in his response, posting a video on his Instagram page saying: “Do you know me? Did you ever talk to me, personally? Do you know what I’ve been through in my life? You just saw me play football on the pitch, sure. Man, shut up.”
