Paris St. Germain manager Laurent Blanc has insisted that he will do everything he can to keep central defender Marquinhos at the club amid interest from Manchester United, reports the Daily
The Brazilian is currently behind compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the defensive pecking order at the Parc des Princes, but PSG rate him extremely highly, and are hoping to tie the 20-year-old down to a new long-term contract.
Man Utd have been heavily linked with making a move in recent weeks, with manager Louis van Gaal looking to make several changes to his squad over the summer. He will be given plenty of money to spend, so the Red Devils could be willing to offer as much as £30m for Marquinhos.
Signed in the summer of 2013, Marquinhos has scored six goals in 60 appearances in all competitions for PSG, helping them to win the Ligue 1 title last season.
And Blanc is not ready to let him leave the French capital. He said: “Marquinhos has a spirit and a special mentality. We have done everything to keep him and we will do everything possible to extend his contract. It is good that as a player he can operate in different defensive roles, and let’s not forget he is just 20 years old. He and Adrien Rabiot represent the future of PSG.”
