Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson continued his scoring form with a fortunate goal against Swansea City to earn his side all three points in a close affair at the Liberty stadium, which was also the Reds’ fifth consecutive league win, reports BBC
Swansea City were looking the most deadly in the first-half against Liverpool, with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet by far the busier man between the sticks in the opening 45 minutes. City should arguably have been ahead through Bafetimbi Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson, and were typically left to rue such missed opportunities.
Liverpool took their time to settle in the game, but did start to create their own set of chances. They too were wasteful in front of goal, with the tactical battle between both sides keeping the game goaless.
But in the second-half, Liverpool did eventually make the breakthrough. Midfielder Jordan Henderson latched onto a through ball in fortunate circumstances, and then deflected a clearance into the back of the net. His endeavour got him the goal, and it was all Liverpool needed to boost their chances of Champions League football for next season.
