Aston Villa 2-1 Liverpool: Delph shines as Villa reach the FA Cup final

Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph delivered an outstanding display, along with winger Jack Grealish against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, as manager Tim Sherwood celebrated a deserved victory over the Reds, reports

BBC Sport.

Liverpool took the lead in the 30th minute through in-form midfielder Philippe Coutinho, whose shot was deflected in by Jores Okore. But the lead didn’t last long, as the impressive Christian Benteke managed to continue his impressive record against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Belgian striker finished from close range following a well-worked move between Fabian Delph and Jack Grealish, that ended with Delph squaring a ball for Benteke to steer into the back of the net, just five minutes after conceding.

The two sides went into the break level, but Aston Villa came out of the blocks in the second-half and their endeavour finally paid off less than 10 minutes after the break.

Fabian Delph picked up the ball in the area from Grealish, side-stepped a challenge and finished from close range to put Villa ahead. They held on, but weren’t put under any real pressure from Liverpool at the end of the game, and are now in the final against Arsenal.
